Farpoint: In the run up to the elections PBGN will be providing responses from each political party regarding an issue currently effecting the Imperial Kingdom. The issue discussed today is the current intervention in Punth. We asked each party what their position was on the escalating war in the Northern Confederation was and this is how each responded.

Pauldustllah First:

Our Party views the current interventions in Punth as a good thing; For the Imperial Kingdom and the world. The Imperial Kingdom has a strong military and we should never be afraid to throw our weight around in furthering our aims. The people of the Northern Confederation have had decades to move into modernity and join the world stage as equals. The Northern Confederation, like the rest of non-colonial Punth have chosen not to do this and have instead chosen primitiveness over progress. Concepts like the rule of law, economic growth, and stable governance are rejected however; Modern weapons are loved all over the continent. The uneducated masses in Punth that scream out for self-rule and demand the withdrawal of civilized society from the continent turn around and begin murdering each other in the streets when finally given the chance of self-governance. For example, look at the situation in Southern Punth The Burgundians have had to conduct operations in their former colonies because Punthites are incapable of governing themselves. Now due to the mess Southern Punth has found itself in the Burgundians are rendering assistance out of guilt of past transgressions; They will spend the blood and treasure of their nation and receive no direct benefits for there efforts. Punth needs a strong western hand to bring peace and stability to the continent. If the Burgundians refuse to bring the south of Punth back under their dominion then after we bring the north into the fold, we should look southward.

Libertarian Party:
Our constitution permits the Monarch to conduct military operations for up to 30 days without the consent of the legislature. The reasoning for this power was to give the Imperial Kingdom the ability to defend itself in the event we were attacked; This 30-day period gives time for the legislature to have the discussions and debates necessary to figure out what to do moving forward. Notably weather or not the Imperial Kingdom should either pursue the conflict with a declaration of war or to abandon the conflict all together and sue for peace. This power never meant to be used to invade foreign lands who have never caused harm to the Imperial Kingdom. The Northern Confederation has never been an adversary of the Imperial Kingdom, nor do they have the capability to represent a threat to the Kingdom or any of our holdings. Supporters of the governments intervention in Punth state that we must protect our citizens abroad. However, the law of the Imperial Kingdom extends no further than it’s borders and it is not the role of the government and save its citizens beyond its borders. It is a gross over reach of governmental power to dictate the laws of a foreign land and our citizens who travel abroad must understand the differences of law in foreign countries. We don’t send the army to invade Kartika every time one of our citizens is unable to handle their liquor and gets arrested. We respect the sovereign law of Kirav when that happens. What makes Punth any different?

Conservative Party:
What the opponents of the governments intervention in Punth fail to understand is that that government didn’t just wake up one morning and decide to invade the Northern Confederation. A trade vessel containing citizens of the Imperial Kingdom went missing in a storm while conducting the honest work of selling their goods to willing buyers in that area of the globe. Acting within both the Laws of the Imperial Kingdom and mutually agreed upon international laws regarding safety of life at sea the Imperial Navy went looking for this vessel. The navy found wreckage and when they attempted to search the area for survivors they were attacked by the northern confederation. At that point Imperial troops were sent so provide enhanced security while the search takes place. This has led to an escalation of force by the Northern confederation and as a result more troops must be sent to ensure that the Imperial Kingdom and conduct its search unmolested. The imperial military is conducting security operations as well as the search for the simple reason that the rule of law has not taken hold in the north confederation. If a ship containing imperial citizens wrecked off the coast of Urcea, The Imperial Government could simple pick up the phone and ensure assistance was rendered to our citizens. In areas where no such security umbrella exists the Imperial Kingdom must take action to ensure the safety of our citizens and trade partners. It is not; nor has it ever been the position of this government to colonize the continent of Punth and the current government will not support this vision.

The Monarch cares about the safety and well-being of her citizens; including those that travel abroad. The current intervention is proof this fact. We support our queen and we will support the safe return of our citizens. The narrative that this is a colonial push from the Imperial Kingdom is false.

South Islands Union:
We respect the governments position that it must protect its citizens abroad and we will support the intervention in Punth as long as the government has no territorial ambitions in the northern confederation. The Southern Islands understand the price that is paid under colonial rule and we would not support any measure that could reignite old tensions in the southern islands.

Pauldustllah United:
Colonial wars have plagued the world for far too long, Nations have expended blood and treasure world wide in pursuit of claiming as much land as possible out of wanton greed. Colonialism has not provided any tangible benefit to the people of the west despite spending billions and spilling the blood of thousands.

Popular Center:
Intervention in Punth violates the sovereignty of the Northern confederation. While we must look at way to protect our citizens when they go abroad; we must respect the sovereignty of a foreign nation.

Font party:
Times New Roman is destroying the cultural identity of Punth. We should render assistance by sending pamphlets written in the wingdings font.

Liberal party:
The intervention in the Northern Confederation is bad. While the government states that they are trying to ensure the safety of the citizens overseas we know that those who embarked on that trade mission in Punth we all well enough to do to be able to afford to travel to Punth. If the citizens were able to afford to go to Punth in the first place, then they should be able to afford to purchase better protection for them selves and not rely on the government for help. We have poor people in the Kingdom that need assistance. Helping the rich does not make the Imperial Kingdom any safer and is a waste of taxpayer money.

Regional Integration Party:
Instead of fighting in Punth we should form a political union with the rest of the globe Including the Northern Confederation and have a global government to protect its global citizens. We will support an intervention in Punth that leads to this goal.

Environment Party:
The intervention in Punth is destroying the environment.

South Islands First:
The intervention in Punth is just another attempt by the Imperial Government to flex its colonial muscle. This is another illegal occupation by the Imperial Kingdom and should be stopped immediately.
